I was telling you that I started from scratch... or almost: what I did have, was fierce determination, complex experiences, and professional qualifications, as well as artistic skill.
On January 8, 2015, when I happened to meet a semi-precious stones supplier who inspired me to make bracelets in my kitchen, I had to learn everything about the stones – and quickly –, get my fingers to make durable knots, find my own style and so on.
Moreover, I almost immediately got in contact with jewelers and gemmologists because I wanted to offer my clients high-end jewelry.
And that was where my experience as an asset management advisor came into play. I had to work with the best!
I remember having contacted the founder of the Montreal Gemmology School, whom I met in order to tell her about my company and show her my stones.
It was she who first put me in contact with gemmologists who are able, still today, to find for me sublime stones in every corner of the earth.
I then started to work with a specific gemmologist and jewelry who travels regularly to Asia, where she finds the most beautiful freshwater, Tahiti, Akoya and South Sea pearls that I use in most of my pieces.
Today, I work with a whole team of jewelers: they are talented and passionate artists, every one of them.
I imagine every piece of jewelry and carefully choose every stone and pearl, with an intuition that I learned to develop over the years.
The Melanie Stones difference is the beauty and the quality of the jewelry. I believe in them so much that all my pieces are guaranteed for life.
I am also proud to say that every piece of jewelry is handmade in Montreal.
In 2018, I took a course in faceted diamonds because I have always cherished the project of making diamond jewelry, and this is what I make since I got my diploma: necklaces, bracelets, earrings, that my clients simply adore.
My latest creation: a solitaire diamond ring.
This ring has been designed to celebrate a 20-year-old union anniversary.
For the past 7 years, my friends, clients, and people the destiny put on my path, do me the honor of trusting me with designing jewelry that celebrate the most significant moments of their lives.
That is an immense privilege for which I am ever so grateful.
